Will Mahan holds a B.A.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of South Carolina, a M.S. from Purdue University in Human Resource Management, and an M.S. in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University.  During his undergraduate career, Will spent a year studying politics, economics, and genetics at the University of Leeds in England, as well as completing a thesis on European Economic and Monetary Union.  At GSU, Will was also employed as a research assistant in the Counseling & Psychological Services department. 

Before returning to Georgia State for his Counseling degree, Will worked in Human Resources as a project manager and trainer for IBM and Fidelity Investments for 7 years.  He has also recently done consulting work in human behavior for Hansgrohe and the Georgia Department of Audits. 

During his Counseling internship, Will worked at the Georgia Tech Counseling Center in Atlanta, GA.  There he saw clients with a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, sexual identity issues, and career concerns. He also co-led two groups during his time there: an undergraduate support group for GLBT students, and a weekly seminar using interactive techniques to improve communication skills.

Through his association with Georgia State University, Will has also been involved in the research and publication of articles regarding issues of methamphetamine addiction, internet compulsivity, and the bullying of sexual minority youth in schools. In addition to anxiety and depression, his interests include addictions, sexual identity development, and the career development process.  His research articles can be ordered online through the Journal of LGBT Issues in Counseling.
